©2006 Magnum Energy Inc.Battery Bank WiringWarning: Lethal currents will be present if the positive andnegative cables attached to the battery bank touch each other.During the installation and wiring process, ensure the cableends are insulated or covered to prevent touching/shorting thecables.Note: DO NOT connect the DC wires from the battery bank tothe inverter until 1) all DC and AC wiring is complete, 2) thecorrect DC and AC overcurrent protection has been installedand 3) the correct DC voltage and polarity have been verified.Note: For optimum performance, a minimum battery bank of200 AHr is recommended.Depending upon the type of batteries you use in the installation (6 or12 VDC), the batteries must be wired in series, parallel or series-parallel to provide 12 VDC (see Appendix B - Battery Information, forguidance on wiring batteries together). The interconnecting DC wiresmust be sized and rated exactly the same as those that are usedbetween the battery bank and the inverter.Place the batteries as close as practical to the inverter, preferably in aninsulated and ventilated enclosure. Allow adequate space above thebatteries to access the terminals and vent caps (as applicable). Alsoallow at least 1” of space between the batteries to provide good airflow. DO NOT mount the batteries directly under the inverter.Note: To ensure the best performance from your invertersystem, do not use old or untested batteries. Batteries shouldbe of the same size, type, rating and age.Caution: Install batteries in a well ventilated area. Batteriescan produce explosive gasses. For compartment or enclosureinstallations, always vent batteries to the outside.Inverter to Battery Bank WiringWarning: Ensure all sources of DC power (i.e. batteries, solar, wind or hydro) and AC power (utility/shore power or ACgenerator) are de-energized (i.e. breakers opened, fusesremoved) before proceeding.Caution: Inverter is NOT reverse polarity protected, if thishappens the inverter will be damaged and will not be coveredunder warranty. Before connecting the DC wires from thebatteries to the inverter, verify the correct battery voltageand polarity using a voltmeter. If the positive terminal of thebattery is connected to the negative terminal of the inverterand vice versa, severe damage will result. If necessary, colorcode the cables with colored tape or heat shrink tubing: REDfor positive (+); BLACK for negative (-) to avoid polarityconfusion.2.0 Installation15http://www.wholesalesolar.com/inverters.htmlhttp://www.wholesalesolar.com/inverters.html
