21 ENGLISHOPERATIONOperating the machineNOTICE: The front wheel is driven by batterypower in this machine. Use this machine to assistwith carrying operations.NOTICE: Be sure to insert the lock key in the bat-tery box before the operation. If the lock key is notinserted, a short beep sound is emitted when you pullthe switch trigger. The beep sound stops by releasingthe switch trigger and pulling the brake lever.Before operating the machine, check that the brakelever works properly.► Fig.39: 1. Brake leverWARNING: If the brake lever reaches the han-dle when you fully pull the lever, the brake is notworking properly. Adjust the brake, or ask yourlocal Makita Service Center for repairs.1. Select the battery cartridge with the battery selection switch.2. Press the power button on the control panel for afew seconds to turn the power on.► Fig.40: 1. Power button3. Switch triggerLoading objectsCAUTION: Before loading objects on the machine,make sure that the power is off and the brake lever is locked.CAUTION: If the rear wheels are installed,make sure that the rear wheel brake is lockedbefore loading objects on the machine.CAUTION: Before loading objects on themachine, make sure that the carrier or bucket is locked.CAUTION: Be sure to load objects within thecarrier or bucket. If objects are sticking out of the carrieror bucket, they may fall or collapse if they touch obstacles.► Fig.44CAUTION: Be sure to load objects so that theyare below eye level. If the load is too high, it is dangerousbecause the view is obscured. Also, there is a risk of overturn-ing and injury because the load is likely to be unbalanced.► Fig.45When loading objects on the carrier, secure the objectswith ropes and tie them down to the rope hooks.► Fig.46Dumping objectsCAUTION: Lift the carrier or bucket on flatand stable ground. Operation on unstable groundmay cause an accident or injury.You can dump the objects by lifting and tilting the carrieror bucket.1. Stop the machine, and then lock the brakes.NOTICE: It is recommended to block the frontwheel to stabilize the machine.2. Release the lock lever.3. Stand at the side of the machine, hold the handlewith one hand, and then lift and tilt the carrier or bucketby pushing up the carrier frame with the other hand.► Fig.47CAUTION: Hold the handle and carrier framefirmly, and work in a stable posture.CAUTION: Keep the load to a minimum. If theload is large, do not try to lift the carrier. Reducethe load, and then lift the carrier.CAUTION: After dumping the objects, be sureto lock the carrier or bucket.MAINTENANCECAUTION: Always be sure to park the machineon flat ground and lock the brake lever before storageor attempting to perform inspections or maintenance.CAUTION: If the rear wheels are installed,make sure that the rear wheel brake is lockedbefore storage, inspections, or maintenance.CAUTION: Always be sure that the lock keyand battery cartridge are removed from the machinebefore storage, inspections, or maintenance.CAUTION: Always remove the lock key whenthe machine is not in use. Store the lock key in asafe place out of reach of children.Periodic checks• Check that the bolts and nuts are tightened firmly.► Fig.48• Check that the carrier is locked when the locklever is fully pulled down.► Fig.49: 1. Brake leverWARNING: If the brake lever reaches the han-dle when you fully pull the lever, the brake is notworking properly. Adjust the brake, or ask yourlocal Makita Service Center for repairs.• Check to see if the front wheel is not damaged orflat. Check that the air in the tire for the front wheelis sufficient.
