Remove the cover before operation.Kickback (Blade thrust)1. Kickback (blade thrust) is a sudden reactionto a caught or bound cutting blade. Once itoccurs, the tool is thrown sideway or towardthe operator at great force and it may causeserious injury.2. Kickback occurs particularly when applyingthe blade segment between 12 and 2 o'clockto solids, bushes and trees with 3 cm or largerdiameter.3. To avoid kickback:1. Apply the segment between 8 and 11o'clock.2. Never apply the segment between 12 and2 o'clock.3. Never apply the segment between 11 and12 o'clock and between 2 and 5 o'clock,unless the operator is well trained andexperienced and does it at his/her ownrisk.4. Never use cutting blades close to solids,such as fences, walls, tree trunks andstones.5. Never use cutting blades vertically, forsuch operations as edging and trimminghedges.12 12345111098Vibration1. People with poor circulation who are exposedto excessive vibration may experience injuryto blood vessels or the nervous system.Vibration may cause the following symptomsto occur in the fingers, hands or wrists: "Fallingasleep" (numbness), tingling, pain, stabbing sen-sation, alteration of skin color or of the skin. If anyof these symptoms occur, see a physician!2. To reduce the risk of "white finger disease",keep your hands warm during operation andwell maintain the tool and accessories.Transport1. Before transporting the tool, turn it off andremove the battery cartridge. Attach the coverto the cutting blade.2. When transporting the tool, carry it in a hori-zontal position by holding the shaft.3. When transporting the tool in a vehicle, prop-erly secure it to avoid turnover. Otherwisedamage to the tool and other baggage may result.Maintenance1. Have your tool serviced by our authorizedservice center, always using only genuinereplacement parts. Incorrect repair and poormaintenance can shorten the life of the tool andincrease the risk of accidents.2. Before doing any maintenance or repair workor cleaning the tool, always turn it off andremove the battery cartridge.3. Always wear protective gloves when handlingthe cutting blade.4. Always clean dust and dirt off the tool. Neveruse gasoline, benzine, thinner, alcohol or thelike for the purpose. Discoloration, deformationor cracks of the plastic components may result.5. After each use, tighten all screws and nuts.6. Do not attempt any maintenance or repair notdescribed in the instruction manual. Ask ourauthorized service center for such work.7. Always use our genuine spare parts andaccessories only. Using parts or accessoriessupplied by a third party may result in the toolbreakdown, property damage and/or seriousinjury.
