11Securing workpieceWARNING:• It is extremely important to always secure theworkpiece properly and tightly with the vise. Failureto do so can cause the tool to be damaged and/orthe workpiece to be destroyed. PERSONALINJURY MAY ALSO RESULT. Also, after a cuttingoperation, DO NOT raise the blade until the bladehas come to a complete stop.CAUTION:• When cutting long workpieces, use supports thatare as high as the top surface level of the turn base.Do not rely solely on the vertical vise and/orhorizontal vise to secure the workpiece.Thin material tends to sag. Support workpiece overits entire length to avoid blade pinch and possibleKICKBACK.Sub-fenceThis tool is equipped with the sub-fence which shouldordinarily be positioned as shown in the figure.However, when performing left bevel cuts, set it to the leftposition as shown in the figure.CAUTION:• When performing left bevel cuts, flip the fence overto the left position as shown in the figure.Otherwise, it will contact the blade or a part of thetool, causing possible serious injury to the operator.Sub-fence R (optional accessory)The sub-fence R can be installed on the right side of theguide fence. Insert the rods of the sub-fence R into theholes in the guide fence. Tighten the screws which comewith the sub-fence R to secure the sub-fence R.CAUTION:• When performing right bevel cuts, never use thesub-fence R. It will contact the blade or a part of thetool, causing possible serious injury to the operator.Vertical viseThe vertical vise can be installed in two positions oneither the left or right side of the guide fence or the base.Insert the vise rod into the hole in the guide fence or thebase and tighten the screw on the back of the guidefence to secure the vise rod.Position the vise arm according to the thickness andshape of the workpiece and secure the vise arm by tight-ening the screw. If the screw to secure the vise arm con-tacts the guide fence, install the screw on the oppositeside of vise arm. Make sure that no part of the tool con-tacts the vise when lowering the handle fully and pullingor pushing the carriage all the way. If some part contactsthe vise, re-position the vise.1. Support2.
