10Installing or removing saw bladeCAUTION:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andunplugged before installing or removing the blade.• Use only the Makita socket wrench provided toinstall or remove the blade. Failure to do so mayresult in overtightening or insufficient tightening ofthe hex bolt. This could cause an injury.Lock the handle in the raised position by pushing in thestopper pin.1001564To remove the blade, use the socket wrench to loosenthe hex bolt holding the center cover by turning itcounterclockwise. Raise the blade guard and centercover.3124001532Press the shaft lock to lock the spindle and use thesocket wrench to loosen the hex bolt clockwise. Thenremove the hex bolt, outer flange and blade.31245001533To install the blade, mount it carefully onto the spindle,making sure that the direction of the arrow on thesurface of the blade matches the direction of the arrowon the blade case.Install the outer flange and hex bolt, and then use thesocket wrench to tighten the hex bolt (left-handed)securely counterclockwise while pressing the shaft lock.2 1 4 3001534For all countries other than European countries123 456004058CAUTION:• The black ring 25 mm in outer diameter and thesilver ring 25.4 mm in outer diameter arefactory-installed as shown in the figure. Whenusing a blade with 25 mm hole diameter, replacethe silver ring with the black ring. Before mountingthe blade onto the spindle, always be sure that thecorrect ring for the arbor hole of the blade youintend to use is installed between the inner andouter flanges.For European countriesCAUTION:• The ring 30 mm in outer diameter isfactory-installed between the inner and outerflanges.Install the outer flange and hex bolt, and then use thesocket wrench to tighten the hex bolt securelycounterclockwise while pressing the shaft lock.Return the blade guard and center cover to its originalposition. Then tighten the hex bolt clockwise to securethe center cover. Release the handle from the raisedposition by pulling the stopper pin. Lower the handle tomake sure that the blade guard moves properly.
