16 ENGLISH7. Inspect your workpiece before cutting. If theworkpiece is bowed or warped, clamp it withthe outside bowed face toward the fence.Always make certain that there is no gapbetween the workpiece, fence and table alongthe line of the cut. Bent or warped workpiecescan twist or shift and may cause binding on thespinning saw blade while cutting. There should beno nails or foreign objects in the workpiece.8. Do not use the saw until the table is clear of alltools, wood scraps, etc., except for the work-piece. Small debris or loose pieces of wood orother objects that contact the revolving blade canbe thrown with high speed.9. Cut only one workpiece at a time. Stacked multipleworkpieces cannot be adequately clamped or bracedand may bind on the blade or shift during cutting.10. Ensure the mitre saw is mounted or placed ona level, firm work surface before use. A leveland firm work surface reduces the risk of the mitresaw becoming unstable.11. Plan your work. Every time you change the bevelor mitre angle setting, make sure the adjustablefence is set correctly to support the workpieceand will not interfere with the blade or the guard-ing system. Without turning the tool "ON" and withno workpiece on the table, move the saw bladethrough a complete simulated cut to assure there willbe no interference or danger of cutting the fence.12. Provide adequate support such as table exten-sions, saw horses, etc. for a workpiece that iswider or longer than the table top. Workpieceslonger or wider than the mitre saw table can tipif not securely supported. If the cut-off piece orworkpiece tips, it can lift the lower guard or bethrown by the spinning blade.13. Do not use another person as a substitute for atable extension or as additional support. Unstablesupport for the workpiece can cause the blade to bindor the workpiece to shift during the cutting operationpulling you and the helper into the spinning blade.14. The cut-off piece must not be jammed or pressedby any means against the spinning saw blade. Ifconfined, i.e. using length stops, the cut-off piece couldget wedged against the blade and thrown violently.15. Always use a clamp or a fixture designed toproperly support round material such as rodsor tubing. Rods have a tendency to roll whilebeing cut, causing the blade to "bite" and pull thework with your hand into the blade.16. Let the blade reach full speed before contact-ing the workpiece. This will reduce the risk of theworkpiece being thrown.17. If the workpiece or blade becomes jammed,turn the mitre saw off. Wait for all movingparts to stop and disconnect the plug fromthe power source and/or remove the batterypack. Then work to free the jammed material.Continued sawing with a jammed workpiece couldcause loss of control or damage to the mitre saw.18. After finishing the cut, release the switch,hold the saw head down and wait for the bladeto stop before removing the cut-off piece.Reaching with your hand near the coasting bladeis dangerous.19. Hold the handle firmly when making an incom-plete cut or when releasing the switch before thesaw head is completely in the down position. Thebraking action of the saw may cause the saw head tobe suddenly pulled downward, causing a risk of injury.20. Only use the saw blade with the diameter thatis marked on the tool or specified in the man-ual. Use of an incorrectly sized blade may affectthe proper guarding of the blade or guard opera-tion which could result in serious personal injury.21. Only use the saw blades that are marked with a speedequal or higher than the speed marked on the tool.22. Do not use the saw to cut other than wood,aluminum or similar materials.23. (For European countries only)Always use the blade which conforms to EN847-1.Additional instructions1. Make workshop kid proof with padlocks.2. Never stand on the tool. Serious injury couldoccur if the tool is tipped or if the cutting tool isunintentionally contacted.3. Never leave the tool running unattended. Turnthe power off. Do not leave tool until it comesto a complete stop.4. Do not operate saw without guards in place.Check blade guard for proper closing beforeeach use. Do not operate saw if blade guard doesnot move freely and close instantly. Never clampor tie the blade guard into the open position.5. Keep hands out of path of saw blade. Avoid contactwith any coasting blade. It can still cause severe injury.6. Never clamp or tie the blade guard into theopen position.7. To reduce the risk of injury, return carriage to thefull rear position after each crosscut operation.8. Always secure all moving portions beforecarrying the tool.9. Stopper pin which locks the cutter head downis for carrying and storage purposes only andnot for any cutting operations.10. Check the blade carefully for cracks or dam-age before operation. Replace cracked or dam-aged blade immediately. Gum and wood pitchhardened on blades slows saw and increasespotential for kickback. Keep blade clean byfirst removing it from tool, then cleaning it withgum and pitch remover, hot water or kerosene.Never use gasoline to clean blade.11. While making a slide cut, KICKBACK can occur.KICKBACK occurs when the blade binds in theworkpiece during a cutting operation and the sawblade is driven rapidly towards the operator. Lossof control and serious personal injury can result. Ifblade begins to bind during a cutting operation, donot continue to cut and release switch immediately.12. Use only flanges specified for this tool.13. Be careful not to damage the arbor, flanges(especially the installing surface) or bolt. Damageto these parts could result in blade breakage.14. Make sure that the turn base is properlysecured so it will not move during operation.Use the holes in the base to fasten the saw to astable work platform or bench. NEVER use toolwhere operator positioning would be awkward.
