6CAUTION:• After installing a new blade, always be sure that theblade does not contact any part of the lower basewhen the handle is lowered completely. Always dothis with the tool unplugged.Adjusting the miter angleLoosen the grip by turning counterclockwise. Turn theturn base while pressing down the lock lever. When youhave moved the grip to the position where the pointerpoints to the desired angle on the miter scale, securelytighten the grip clockwise.CAUTION:• When turning the turn base, be sure to raise thehandle fully.• After changing the miter angle, always secure theturn base by tightening the grip firmly.Switch actionCAUTION:• Before plugging in the tool, always check to seethat the switch trigger actuates properly and returnsto the “OFF” position when released.• When not using the tool, remove the lock-off buttonand store it in a secure place. This preventsunauthorized operation.• Do not pull the switch trigger hard without pressingin the lock-off button. This can cause switchbreakage.To prevent the switch trigger from being accidentallypulled, a lock-off button is provided. To start the tool,press in the lock-off button and pull the switch trigger.Release the switch trigger to stop.WARNING:• NEVER use tool without a fully operative switchtrigger. Any tool with an inoperative switch isHIGHLY DANGEROUS and must be repairedbefore further usage.• For your safety, this tool is equipped with a lock-offbutton which prevents the tool from unintendedstarting. NEVER use the tool if it runs when yousimply pull the switch trigger without pressing thelock-off button. Return tool to a Makita servicecenter for proper repairs BEFORE further usage.• NEVER tape down or defeat purpose and functionof lock-off button.Electric brakeThis tool is equipped with an electric blade brake. If thetool consistently fails to quickly stop blade after switchtrigger release, have tool serviced at a Makita servicecenter.The blade brake system is not a substitute for bladeguard. NEVER USE TOOL WITHOUT A FUNCTIONINGBLADE GUARD.
