187. Wood facingUse of wood facing helps to assure splinter-freecuts in workpieces. Attach a wood facing to theguide fence using the holes in the guide fence.See the figure concerning the dimensions for asuggested wood facing.Over 15mm (5/8") Over 420mm (16-1/2")1 150mm-60mm(2"-2-3/8")27mm (1-1/16")85mm(3-3/8")70mm(2-3/4")85mm(3-3/8")70mm(2-3/4")002206CAUTION:• Use the straight wood of even thickness as thewood facing.WARNING:• Use screws to attach the wood facing to theguide fence. The screws should be installedso that the screw heads are below the surfaceof the wood facing so that they will notinterfere with the positioning of the materialbeing cut. Misalignment of the material being cutcan case unexpected movement during thecutting operation which may result in a loss ofcontrol and serious personal injury.NOTICE:• When the wood facing is attached, do not turn theturn base with the handle lowered. The bladeand/or the wood facing will be damaged.8. Cutting repetitive lengths123001846When cutting several pieces of stock to the samelength, ranging from 220 mm (8-5/8") to 385 mm(15-1/8"), use of the set plate (optional accessory)will facilitate more efficient operation. Install the setplate on the holder (optional accessory) as shownin the figure.Align the cutting line on your workpiece with eitherthe left or right side of the groove in the kerf board, and while holding the workpiece from moving, move the set plate flush against the end of theworkpiece. Then secure the set plate with the screw. When the set plate is not used, loosen the screwand turn the set plate out of the way.NOTE:• Use of the holder-rod assembly (optionalaccessory) allows cutting repetitive lengths up to2,200 mm (7.2ft) approximately.9. Groove cutting1001563A dado type cut can be made by proceeding asfollows:Adjust the lower limit position of the blade using theadjusting screw and the stopper arm to limit thecutting depth of the blade. Refer to "Stopper arm"section described on previously. After adjusting the lower limit position of the blade, cut parallel grooves across the width of theworkpiece using a slide (push) cut as shown in thefigure. Then remove the workpiece materialbetween the grooves with a chisel.WARNING:• Do not attempt to perform this type of cut byusing a wider type blade or dado blade.Attempting to make a groove cut with a wider bladeor dado blade could lead to unexpected cuttingresults and kickback which may result in seriouspersonal injury• Be sure to return the stopper arm to theoriginal position when performing other thangroove cutting. Attempting to make cuts with thestopper arm in the incorrect position could lead tounexpected cutting results and kickback which mayresult in serious personal injury.1. Cut grooves withblade1.
