61011237FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTIONWARNING:• Always be sure that the tool is switched off andthe battery cartridge is removed beforeadjusting or checking the functions on the tool.Failure to switch off and remove the batterycartridge may result in serious personal injury fromaccidental start-up.Installing or removing battery cartridge123011235• Always switch off the tool before insertion orremoval of the battery cartridge.• To remove the battery cartridge, withdraw it fromthe tool while sliding the button on the front of thecartridge.• To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue onthe battery cartridge with the groove in the housingand slip it into place. Always insert it all the wayuntil it locks in place with a little click. If you can seethe red part on the upper side of the button, it is notlocked completely. Insert it fully until the red partcannot be seen. If not, it may accidentally fall out ofthe tool, causing injury to you or someone aroundyou.• Do not use force when inserting the batterycartridge. If the cartridge does not slide in easily, itis not being inserted correctly.Battery protection system (Battery cartridgewith a star mark)1011389The battery cartridge with a star mark is equipped withthe protection system, which automatically cuts off theoutput power for its long service life.The tool stops during operation when the tool and/orbattery are placed under the following situation. This iscaused by the activation of protection system and doesnot show the tool trouble.• When the tool is overloaded:At this time, release the switch trigger andremove causes of overload and then pull theswitch trigger again to restart.• When battery cells get hot:If any operation of the switch trigger, themotor will remain stopped. At this time, stopuse of the tool and cool or charge the batterycartridge after removing it from the tool.• When the remaining battery capacity gets low:If any operation of the switch trigger, themotor will remain stopped. At this time,remove the battery cartridge from the tool andcharge it .Blade guard1011238When lowering the handle, the blade guard risesautomatically. The guard is spring loaded so it returns toits original position when the cut is completed and thehandle is raised.WARNING:• Never defeat or remove the blade guard or thespring which attaches to the guard.
