Part Number 000007651 05/10 11Section 4MaintenanceInterior Cleaning and SanitizingGENERALYou are responsible for maintaining the ice machine inaccordance with the instructions in this manual.Maintenance procedures are not covered by thewarranty.Clean and sanitize the ice machine every six months forefficient operation. If the ice machine requires morefrequent cleaning and sanitizing, consult a qualifiedservice company to test the water quality andrecommend appropriate water treatment. An extremelydirty ice machine must be taken apart for cleaning andsanitizing.Manitowoc Ice Machine Cleaner and Sanitizer are theonly products approved for use in Manitowoc icemachines.Manitowoc Ice Machines have three separatecleaning procedures.Preventative Maintenance Cleaning ProcedurePerform this procedure as required for your waterconditions.• Allows cleaning the ice machine without removing allof the ice from the bin• Removes mineral deposits from areas or surfacesthat are in direct contact with water during the freezecycle (reservoir, evaporator, auger, drain lines).Cleaning/Sanitizing ProcedureThis procedure must be performed a minimum of onceevery six months.• All ice must be removed from the bin• The ice machine and bin must be disassembledcleaned and sanitized• The ice machine produces ice with the cleaner andsanitizer solutions• All ice produced during the cleaning and sanitizingprocedure must be discardedHeavily Scaled Cleaning ProcedurePerform this procedure if you have some or all of thesesymptoms.• Grinding, popping or squealing noises from theevaporator• Grinding noise from gearbox• Ice machine trips speed sensorNOTE: A Cleaning/Sanitizing Procedure must beperformed after this procedure.EXTERIOR CLEANINGRemove dust and dirt off exterior surfaces with mildhousehold dish-washing detergent and warm water.Wipe dry with a clean, soft cloth.! CautionUse only Manitowoc approved Ice Machine Cleaner(part number 000000084) and Sanitizer (partnumber 94-0565-3). It is a violation of Federal law touse these solutions in a manner inconsistent withtheir labeling. Read and understand all labelsprinted on bottles before use.! CautionDo not mix Cleaner and Sanitizer solutions together.It is a violation of Federal law to use these solutionsin a manner inconsistent with their labeling.! WarningWear rubber gloves and safety goggles (and/or faceshield) when handling Ice Machine Cleaner orSanitizer.
