Programming Your 7890 ScannerRS-232 Parameters - 1User’s Guide 5-69RS-232 Parameters - 1The RS-232 Parameters - 1 Programming mode containsfour of the parameters required for RS-232communications. From this programming mode youcan select the Baud Rate, Parity, Stop Bits And CharacterLength, and Handshake Options. Refer to the RS-232Parameters - 1 worksheet in Appendix A.The Baud Rate parameter contains seven selections: 300Baud, 600 Baud, 1200 Baud, 2400 Baud, 4800 Baud,9600 Baud, and 19200 Baud. Scan the appropriate Hex0 through Hex 6 tag to set the desired Baud rate. Thedefault is 9600 Baud. The Parity parameter contains five selections: Odd,Even, Mark, Space, and None. For 7-bit characters, bit 8is the parity bit; for 8-bit characters, bit 9 is the paritybit. Choosing no parity and 7-bit character length causesthe scanner to send two stop bits; the scanner must alsoreceive two stop bits. Scan the appropriate Hex 0through Hex 4 tag to select the desired Parity. Thedefault is Odd.The Stop Bits and Character Length parameter containsfour selections: 1 Stop Bit and 7-Bit Character length (0),1 Stop bit and 8-Bit Character length (1), 2 Stop Bits and7-Bit Character length (2), and 2 Stop Bits and 8-BitCharacter length (3). Choosing no parity and 7-BitCharacter length causes the scanner to send two stopbits; the scanner must also receive two stop bits. If youselect 8-Bit Character length and parity, only one stopbit is sent. Scan the appropriate Hex 0 through Hex 3Baud RateParityStop Bits andCharacter Length
