Adding Expansion Devices 4-7Memory ModulesMemory modules are installed into one or two SO-DIMM sockets on thesystem board. The sockets are accessible from the bottom of the systemunit. The sockets support up to 512 MB of high-speed memory. The systemsupports 144-pin PC100 SDRAM modules in 64-MB, 128-MB, and256-MB non-ECC memory configurations.Use the following guidelines in selecting SO-DIMM types:! Memory can be installed in one or two sockets.! The size of the SO-DIMMs can vary between sockets.! The speed of the SO-DIMMs must match the processor bus speed(133 MHz or higher).! Single- and double-sided SO-DIMMs are supported. For sample memory configurations, see the table ìSample SO-DIMMUpgrade Paths.îTo determine the memory you need to purchase for a memory upgrade, see ìChecking System Memory.îSample SO-DIMM Upgrade PathsTotal System Memory SO-DIMM 0 SO-DIMM 1128 MB 64 MB 64 MB128 MB 128 MB --192 MB 128 MB 64 MB256 MB 128 MB 128 MB512 MB 256 MB 256 MBThe modules use synchronous dynamic random access memory(SDRAM). Memory allocation is controlled by DVMT. With DVMT,total system memory is shared between system memory and videomemory.
