Installation and ConnectionsConnecting to a NetworkThe NP905/NP901W comes standard with a LAN port (RJ-45) which provides a LAN connection using a LAN cable.The USB Wireless LAN Unit also provides a wireless LAN connection. To use a LAN connection, you are requiredto assign an IP address to the projector. For setting the NETWORK, see page 99. (From the menu, select [SETUP]→ [INSTALLATION(2)] → [NETWORK SETTINGS])NOTE: Some NEC models does not come standard with the USB Wireless LAN Unit. If you buy such a projector,the optional USBWireless LAN unit is required to make presentations via a wireless connection.With the LAN connection, two features are available: Projector control and Picture transmission.Projector control featureWith the wired or wireless LAN connection, you can control (power on/off, input select, etc.) and receive informationfrom the projector over the network using a computer. The following three methods are available:* Using the HTTP Server feature on the projector. (→ page 51)* Using PC Control Utility 3.0 from the supplied User Supportware 5 CD-ROM.* Using Image Express Utility 2.0 from the supplied User Supportware 5 CD-ROM.Picture transmission feature (Using WindowsVista)A Windows Vista-based computer can be operated using the projector over a network. The projector supports theNetwork Projector function and the Remote Desktop function of Windows Vista. (→ page 54, 58)Picture transmission feature (Using User Supportware 5 CD-ROM)With the wired or wireless LAN connection, you can send images and slides from a personal computer to the pro-jector which then can be projected on the screen. The following two methods are available:* Using Image Express Utility 2.0 from the supplied User Supportware 5 CD-ROM.* Using Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0 from the supplied User Supportware 5 CD-ROM.With the USB mouse connected to the projector, you can also operate the desktop screen on your Windows PCconnected to the LAN or the wireless LAN.* Using Desktop Control Utility 1.0 from the supplied User Supportware 5 CD-ROM.TIP: Five Windows software programs (Image Express Utility 2.0, Desktop Control Utility 1.0, Ulead Photo Explorer 8.0, ViewerPPT Converter and PC Control Utility 3.0) and a Macintosh software program (Image Express Utility 2 for Mac OS X) are con-tained on the supplied Projector User Supportware 5 CD-ROM.
