It canbe used to substitute the parallel printer cable. The IrDAInterface Card also has a serial port for making a serialconnection between your computer and the printer.System RequirementsTo use IrDA, your computer must be running Windows 95 or98, have an IrDA interface, have an IrDA driver, and the NECIrDA Interface Upgrade Kit.IrDA Card InstallationTo install the IrDA Interface Card:1. Remove the printer side cover and access the printerController Board as described on page 83.2. Position the printer so you have access to the back.3. Remove screw from the metal back plate (A).4. Insert IrDA Interface Card into printer (B) .5. Connect card with socket on Controller Board (C).6. Use screw, removed in Step 3, to fasten the card (D).7. Use the procedure in Step 1 as guide to replace theprinter side cover, 500-sheet Cassette tray, and cables.IrDA and Serial ConnectionThis section describes how to connect your computer to theprinter’s IrDA and serial ports, and how to configure yourcomputer’s operating system for using these connections.To complete the IrDA connection:1.
