8 SuperScript 4600N — User’s Guideuse these settings to adjust screen frequency and angle. Forexample, use this when screened images show a moirépattern.Negative ImageIf you select this, black and white values are reversed andRGB colors print as their complements.Mirror ImageIf you select this, pages are “mirrored” on the horizontal axis.ScalingYou can enlarge or reduce the page image. A value of 100%(the default) means no enlargement or reduction. A value of50% reduces the page image to half its normal size. A value of200% doubles the size of the page image.PostScript OptionsThere are several settings you can use to customize the waythe driver processes print jobsPostScript Output FormatThese settings control the way the driver creates thePostScript language descriptions for page images.Optimize for Speed: Check this for faster printing. Thisoption may cause a problem for some print jobs if theprinter does not have enough memory.Optimize for Portability-ADSC: Check this to ensurethat the document can be printed on any PostScriptprinter. Documents may take longer to print when thisoption is selected. This option is useful if the printer haslimited memory, because it creates smaller documents.Encapsulated PostScript (EPS): Use this to print yourdocument as a single-page image that will beincorporated into another file. You must also selectOutput to File.Archive Format: Use this to create a PostScript datastream that gets stored in a file to be used later.PostScript HeaderYou can control whether the driver sends a PostScript headerwith each document. By default a header proceeds each sentPostScript job. (You will not see this header, it is part of thePostScript code.) If you are printing to your own local printerand you will only be sending PostScript jobs you can chooseto send the header just once. The header is retained and willbe used with each job, thus slightly reducing print time.Error HandlingYou can send an error handler with each print job. Then, if anerror occurs, the printer prints a page with a messagedescribing the nature of the error. You or a technician can usethis information to diagnose the problem.PostScript Timeout ValuesThese settings define timeout periods allowed when thedriver communicates with the printer. Enter a value from 0 to999 seconds (32,767 seconds for NT). When zero is entered, the printer will wait indefinitely. If you printer is shared, donot specify a value of zero.Job Timeout: This is the maximum number of secondsthe printer can take to print a single job. If the print jobtakes more time to print than the timeout value, theprinter may stop printing and prepare to receive a newdocument.Wait Timeout: This is the maximum number of secondsthe printer will wait for data from the computer. Whilereceiving a print job, the printer driver may pause tobuild a PostScript language description of each page. Forcomplicated pages, which take longer to build, you mayneed to set a higher wait time.Advanced OptionsAdvanced options allow you to optimize printerperformance, but generally should not be changed unlessyou have specific reasons to do so. Use the driver OnlineHelp feature for more information on these settings.Device OptionsYou can use settings on the Device Options tab to match theattached printer configuration so that the printer driver cangenerate optimized PostScript code.Available printer memorySet this to match the amount of memory you have installed inthe printer.
