For Macintosh users, EtherTalk software is alreadybuilt into the operating system. Network setup is describedin the “SuperScript Color Laser Network Guide. “When to Use the PostScript 3 orPCL5e Printer DriverUse the PostScript 3 driver for color documents anddocuments that contain many complex graphic images orextensive page layout formatting. The PostScript driver hasmore options and delivers better graphic processing.Use the PCL5e driver for monochrome documents thatcontain mostly text and limited formatting. The PCL5e driverhandles this type of document well and delivers fasterprinting than the PostScript3 driver.note: For color printing, you must use the PostScript 3printer driver for your system. The PCL5e printer driver isfor monochrome printing only.Installation OptionsThere are three types of setup available for SuperScript4600N printer software: Easy/Local, Network Client/Custom, and Network Server/Administrator. This chapterprovides instructions for using the Easy/Local setup. Thissetup quickly installs the basic printing tools for youroperating system. This is appropriate if you are connected toa SuperScript 4600N from the parallel port. All setup optionsare described in more detail on page 3.
