Version 2.0 105Configuration Operator’s ManualDepth - NMEA Input ControlThis screen allows you to configure the depth unit (meters, feet, orfathoms) for the NAV 4 and TIDE 1 screens .Depth information is accepted by the receiver from the NMEA 0183data sentence DBK, DBS, DBT, or DPT on any input NMEA port. Referto the Installation & Service Manual for hardware interface instruc-tions.Press the E key and move the cursor to the Echo Sounder Connectedline. Use the Change softkey to activate the input data options de-scribed below:Depth Unit - select between meters, feet, or fathoms. This data fieldsets the depth unit displayed in NAV 4 and TIDE 1, regardless ofwhether a sensor is connected or not.Echo Sounder Connected - causes the receiver to look for one of theappropriate NMEA 0183 data sentences when set to Yes.Data Input Port No. - Select the appropriate NMEA 0183 port that thesensor is connected to (Ports 1& 2 for MX420/2 or Ports 1,2, 5through 10 for MX420/8). Ports 3 and 4 are reserved for the MX421antenna controls.Offset - Input the appropriate offset for the sensor, based on the mea-surement you are most interested in. If your boat draws about thesame amount of water each time you use it, you may want to put inthe difference between the sensor and the waterline height. If yourboat’s draught changes from one trip to another, as would be thecase when the receiver is used on a freight ship, you may want toput in the difference between the sensor and the lowest point ofthe ship’s hull.Shallow Alarm Active - allows you to receive an alarm if the sensorreceives depth data lower than the limit you set in Alarm Limit(below). The default setting is No.Alarm Limit - allows you to specify at what depth you want an alarm to
