E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX35EN7.3.2 RecommendationsTransport velocityIt is important to use the correct duct diameter to avoid pressure losses anddust deposits in the duct system. Ensure that the correct transport velocityis achieved. Correct velocity depends on the properties of the transportedmaterial. Some applications may require velocities up to 25 m/s (82 ft/s). Takevelocity into account when choosing duct diameters. The velocity is never todecrease on the way to the unit. The transport velocity in the ducts may varydepending on how much of the vacuum system is used.FlushingTo keep the ducts clean, a principle called flushing may be used. Flushing maybe applied by fitting a valve at the end of the duct system. By not using the restof the system, and opening the so called flush valve, a high amount of air willflush the ducts clean. By flushing each branch of the vacuum system separately, the risk of dust deposits is minimized. In larger vacuum systems with multiple E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DXinstalled, we recommend the installation of valves in order to isolate oneE-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX for maintenance while the others remain innormal operation. If the dust is abrasive, it may be necessary to use thick-walled (or rubber-coated) material in bends and other exposed areas. To avoid pressure losses, the duct system is to be as short as possible anddesigned with two or more branches. Use larger diameters on the clean side toreduce pressure losses.8 Installation8.1 Installing E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DXWARNING! Risk of personal injuries. The outlet silencer and fan may reach high temperatures during normaloperation.WARNING! Risk of eye injuries.Always stop the unit before looking into the outlet. The fan rotates at highspeed and debris and particles coming out of the outlet may cause eye injuries.E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX may be placed indoors or outdoors.Consider the following when installing E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX:• The foundation is to be level and hard, see Section ‘7.2.2 Foundation’.• Do not install E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX close to heat sources orhot surfaces.• Beware of hot air from the outlet.• Ensure that handling is convenient.• Ensure that emptying collected dust is convenient.• Ensure that service and maintenance are convenient.• In case of high relative humidity, do not exposeE-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX to freezing temperatures.• Do not place E-PAK 150 DX/300 DX/500 DX in direct sunlight.
