3-2 User’s Reference GuideWhat you needLocate all items that you need for the installation.Included in your router package are: The Netopia R7100 SDSL Router A power adapter and cord with a mini-DIN8 connector One RJ-45 Ethernet cable One RJ-11 Telco (or Line) cable A dual DE-9 and mini-DIN8 to DE-9 console cable (for a PC or a Macintosh) The Netopia CD containing an Internet browser, Adobe Acrobat Reader for Windows and Macintosh, ZTermterminal emulator software and NCSA Telnet for Macintosh, and documentationYou will need: A Windows 95–based PC or a Macintosh computer with Ethernet connectivity for configuring the NetopiaR7100. This may be built-in Ethernet or an add-on card, with TCP/IP installed and configured. See “Beforerunning SmartStart” on page 5-2. An SDSL wall outlet wired for a connection to a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) who supportsSymmetric Digital Subscriber Line connections.Identify the connectors and attach the cablesIdentify the connectors and switches on the back panel and attach the necessary Netopia Router cables.The figure below displays the back of the Netopia R7100 SDSL Router.Netopia R7100 with SDSL back panel1.
