117TD SecurityAlthough one of the benefits of a wireless-enabled device is that itallows others to freely connect for the wireless exchange of data any-where within its range, the following may occur if security is notenabled:• Data theft: Malicious third-parties may intercept wireless transmis-sions to steal user IDs, passwords, and other personal information.• Unauthorized access: Unauthorized users may gain access to the net-work and alter data or perform other malicious actions. Note that dueto the design of wireless networks, specialized attacks may allowunauthorized access even when security is enabled.A Wi-Fi Connection TypeIn addition to authentication/encryptionand password options, the Wi-Fi connec-tion type menu contains the followingitems:• SSID: Choose the camera SSID (networkname). The process for entering the SSID isthe same as that for editing the password.• Channel: The wireless channel used for wireless connections. Press 1or 3 to choose from channels 1 through 11 and press J to select.• Subnet mask/DHCP server IP address: We recommend that you use thedefault sub-net mask (255.255.255.0) and DHCP server IP address(192.168.0.1).• Reset Wi-Fi settings: Select Yes to reset wire-less settings to their default values.A Current SettingsSelect Current settings to view the current SSID, authentication/encryption settings, password, channel, subnet mask, and DHCPserver IP address.
