145Chapter 22 Adjust MenuColorLCHThe LCH Editor enables you to individu-ally control the Luminosity, the ColorLightness, Chroma, and Hue of theactive image using individual editordialogs. From the Editor pull-down Menu, selectthe first aspect of the current imagethat you want to edit. Choose fromMaster Lightness, Color Lightness,Chroma, and Hue.Hint: You can access each of thesedifferent Editors quickly by using thefollowing keyboard shortcuts:Master Lightness Editor: Ctrl + ~(Windows) Command + ~ (Mac OS)Color Lightness Editor: Ctrl + 1(Windows) Command + 1 (Mac OS)Chroma Editor: Ctrl + 2 (Windows)Command + 2 (Mac OS)Hue Editor: Ctrl + 3 (Windows)Command + 3 (Mac OS)MASTER LIGHTNESSThe Master Lightness Editor is similar toa Levels & Curves dialog, but it affectsonly the lightness of the image withoutaffecting the color. This is a great wayto affect the tonality of your imagewithout introducing unwanted colorcasts.Within this editor, you are presented witha histogram that represents the totalluminosity values within your image. ALuminosity Curve superimposed abovethis Luminosity Histogram enables you tocontrol the relationship of input luminos-ity values to output luminosity values. The Luminosity Histogram representsa bar graph of the total number ofpixels that appear at different levels ofluminosity. The horizontal axis repre-sents the luminosity level, while thevertical axis represents the number ofpixels at each luminosity level foundwithin the current image. The left sideof the horizontal axis represents thedarkest tones of your image, while theright side represents the lightest tonesin the image. The histogram is veryhelpful in determining how to adjustthe settings within the Master Lightnesseditor. You can begin to modify the lightnessof your image by either moving theBlack, White, and Mid Point Sliders orby editing the Luminosity Curve directly.Adjusting the Black, White, and Mid PointSliders will automatically adjust theLuminosity Curve for you.Black Point SliderMove the Black Point Slider to the rightto set all luminosity values from thepoint and to the left to complete black, while redistributing all of the values tostretch the luminosity range to matchthe entire possible range of values. It isrecommended that you move the BlackPoint Slider all the way to the right tomatch up with the left-most informa-tion from the displayed histogram. Thisadjusts the current image so that thedarkest values in the image match the
