156Chapter 22 Adjust MenuNoise ReductionThe Noise Reduction feature enablesyou to reduce the effects of digitalnoise that sometimes appears in imagestaken with digital cameras.Please note: It is recommended thatyou zoom your image to 100% whiledetermining the amount of noise reduc-tion to apply to your image.INTENSITYStart moving the Intensity slider tothe right to increase the amount noisereduction being applied to your image.Be careful to not apply too much noisereduction, as high levels of noise reduc-tion may cause loss of detail.SHARPNESSThe Sharpness slider helps counter theloss of detail that can occur at highnoise reduction levels. Move this sliderto the right to increase the amountof sharpening that is applied to yourimage.METHODSChoose between the Faster or BetterQuality methods in the Methodpull-down Menu. Select Faster forfaster processing or Better Quality for amore precise noise reduction effect.EDGE NOISE REDUCTIONWhen you check the Edge NoiseReduction checkbox, Capture NX willreduce noise artifacts around the edgesof objects within the image, resulting inmore distinct outlines.Once you are satisfied with the resultsof the Noise Reduction feature, clickthe OK button. If you want to cancelthe Noise Reduction feature, simplyclick the Cancel button.Auto Red-EyeThe Auto Red-Eye feature within theAdjust Menu differs from the Red-EyeControl Point feature located withinthe Toolbar. Please see page 171for more information on this feature.The Auto Red-Eye feature automaticallylocates and removes red-eye from thecurrent image.The Auto Red-Eye effect is appliedimmediately when the Auto Red-Eyedialog is displayed. Click OK to acceptthe Auto Red-Eye effect, or click cancelto prevent the Auto Red-Eye effect fromchanging your image.
