22 First Steps : Checking the Battery LevelNote: At low battery levels, you may find that the camera will not recordimages under some settings. There may also not be enough power tocharge the flash, in which case the flash will automatically be set to “Off.”The flash will also be set to “Off” whenever the battery-level indicatorshows the low battery mark ( ).When the battery level becomes critically low, an alarm will sound (a rapidbeeping which continues for thirty seconds) and the following warning willappear in the touch-panel display.BATTERIES ARE LOWCAMERA WILL POWER DOWNWITHIN 30 SECONDSTurn the camera off as quickly as possible (if no action is taken the camerawill turn itself off automatically in thirty seconds) and replace the batteriesbefore turning the camera back on.Note: Photographs, sounds, and memos stored in the camera’s memorywill remain even when the batteries are removed and the camera isunplugged. Refer to “Deleting Images and Recordings from Memory” inthe “Playback” section for information on erasing the contents of memory.
