72 Settings : Using the Self TimerUsing the Self TimerThe COOLPIX 300 incorporates a fixed, ten-second timer, allowing you toappear in photographs you take yourself. To set this self-timer, touch thetimer icon ( ) which appears in the settings list when the camera is inrecording mode, or select SELF TIMER from the setup menu. Thefollowing window will appear.When the timer is set to ON and the camera is in recording mode, the timericon in the settings list will flash. The timer will be activated whenever theENTER key is touched with the stylus or the shutter-release button is fullydepressed, causing the timer mark ( ) to appear at top left in the mainwindow of the touch-panel display. To turn the timer function off, selectOFF from the self-timer menu.To take a photograph using the timer, select ON from the timer menu.Return the camera to recording mode and set the camera on a stable surfaceto frame your photograph in the touch-panel display. Once you havecompleted your composition, touch the ENTER key with the stylus andconfirm that the timer mark has appeared in the main window. The shutterwill be released automatically ten seconds after the timer mark appears.4Caution: When taking a picture with the self timer, do not manipulatethe camera until after a picture has been taken, as otherwise the cameramay “freeze.” If the camera does stop responding, remove and replace thebatteries.MENU SETUP TIMERON OFF
