87The Shooting MenuPreset White BalancePreset white balance is used when shooting undermixed lighting or to compensate for light sourceswith a strong color cast (for example, to make pic-tures taken under a lamp with a red shade look asthough they had been taken under white light).When White bal. preset is selected from theWhite balance menu, the camera will zoom in andthe menu shown above at right will be displayed inthe monitor.Preset White Balance• The camera can not measure a value for preset white balance when the flash fires. Regardless ofthe Flash mode selected, the flash will not fire when selecting Measure.• When Auto bracketing is set to WB bracketing, preset white balance can not be used.White Balance IndicatorUnless the setting is Auto, White balance is shown byan icon in the monitor.Option DescriptionCancelRecalls the most recent value for preset white bal-ance from the memory and sets white balance tothis value.MeasureTo measure a new value for white balance, place aneutral gray object, such as a piece of cardboard,under the lighting that will be used in the final pic-ture.
