118Ze: Programmed AutoIn this mode, the camera automatically adjusts shutter speed andaperture according to a built-in program to ensure optimalexposure in most situations. This mode is recommended forsnapshots and other situations in which you want to leave thecamera in charge of shutter speed and aperture.A Flexible ProgramIn exposure mode e, different combinations ofshutter speed and aperture can be selected byrotating the main command dial while theexposure meters are on (“flexible program”).Rotate the dial to the right for large apertures(small f-numbers) that blur background detailsor fast shutter speeds that “freeze” motion.Rotate the dial to the left for small apertures(large f-numbers) that increase depth of field orslow shutter speeds that blur motion. Allcombinations produce the same exposure.While flexible program is in effect, an asterisk(“U”) appears in the control panel.
