6362Auto Exposure BracketingDETAILED OPERATIONAuto Exposure Bracketing allows you to shoot in selected compensatedEV values (maximum of ±2 EV) shifting from the automatically set properexposure (or selected exposure in Manual exposure mode) for three shotseach time the shutter is released. For example, this is useful in selectingone shot out of several shots with bracketed exposures after processingthe film, when the subject has pronounced contrast in shooting withcolour slide film and where the latitude of the proper exposure is minimal.1 Rotate the Command Dial while pressingthe Auto Exposure Bracketing ¸ buttonto set desired bracketing value (within ±2EV without combining exposure compen-sation). The display changes as follows:• When the bracketing value is set (and while theexposure meter is on), z appears and = blinks inthe LCD panel, and = and electronic analogexposure display blink in the viewfinder. Bracketingvalue can be confirmed by pressing the ¸ button.• Shutter speed and aperture in Auto-Multi Program, aperture in Shutter-Priority Auto and shutter speedin Aperture-Priority Auto and Manual exposuremode are bracketed.• In any of the exposure modes, Flash ExposureBracketing and Auto Exposure Bracketing aresimultaneously performed when a Speedlight isused.Electronic analogCompensated EV value exposure display Bracketing order0.5 0, –0.5, +0.51.0 0, –1.0, +1.01.5 0, –1.5, +1.52.0 0, –2.0, +2.0• Compensated EV value and bracketing order2 Compose picture, confirm focusindicator / and shoot.• Each time the shutter release button is depressed, correct EV, under EV, and over EV exposure areperformed in that order while the blinking electronicanalog exposure display shows the correct, under, then overexposure. Compensated shutter speedand aperture values are displayed during shooting.• If the Exposure Compensation function (page 61) isalso set, bracketing will be combined with theExposure Compensation values. It is useful toperform Bracketing with a compensated value ofover +2 EV or under –2 EV.• If the end of the film roll is reached duringbracketing, the remaining shots can be taken afternew film has been loaded. Also, if you turn thepower switch off during bracketing, the remainingshots can be taken after the power is turned backon.3 Auto Exposure Bracketing is completedand automatically cancelled when thethird shot is taken.• = and z in the LCD panel and = and theelectronic analog exposure display in the viewfinderdisappear when the bracketing is completed.• To cancel the bracketing, rotate the Command Dialwhile pressing the ¸ button so the displaydisappears from the LCD panel.
