This section describes the inputmethods in detail.Input methodsThe input methods Stroke and Zhuyinare available only when the Phonelanguage (Menu 6-2-1) is set toTraditional Chinese. The Predictivetext input method is available onlywhen the Phone language is set toEnglish. The other input methods (forwriting Latin text) such as Upper case,Lower case and Number are alwaysavailable irrespective of the languageselected.TIP: The “Menu 6-2-1” mentionedabove is the shortcut number for themenu function. In standby mode, bypressing (Menu) and quicklyentering the shortcut number, youcan easily access the correspondingmenu function, for example,Language mentioned above. Fordetails, see “By shortcut” on page 18.Below please find the indicators onthe display and the name of eachinput method:ZhuyinStrokeLatin character, upper caseLatin character, lower caseNumber inputText input display1. Symbol area: Shows the symbol ofthe current input method. Thesymbol in the illustration aboveindicates that Stroke is the currentinput method.Tip: Pressing the key togglesbetween the available inputmethods for the selected language.2. Text area: Shows the final selectedand currently keyed-in characters.When the input area (No.3 in thesketch above) is empty, pressingand can move the cursor (acontinuously flashing vertical line)left or right among the charactersshown in text area to insert it. Thelatest keyed-in text is shown to theleft of cursor.3. Input area: When using Chineseinput methods, zhuyin or strokesymbols keyed in through numberkey are displayed in this area. Whenusing English or Number inputmethods, the characters keyed inwill go directly into Text area.641235
