Device updatesSelect Menu > Settings and Phone > Phone mgmt. >Device updates.Use Device updates to check for software updates, to connectto a server and receive configuration settings for your device,to create new server profiles, or to view existing softwareversion and device information and view and manageexisting server profiles.You may receive server profiles and different configurationsettings from your service providers and companyinformation management department. These configurationsettings may include connection and other settings used bydifferent applications in your device.To check for software updates, select Options > Check forupdates.To connect to the server and receive configuration settingsfor your device, select Options > Server profiles, a profile,and Options > Start configuration.To create a server profile, select Options > Serverprofiles > Options > New server profile.To delete a server profile, select the profile and Options >Delete.Security settingsPhone and SIMSelect Menu > Settings and Phone > Phone mgmt. >Security > Phone and SIM card.Select from the following:● PIN code request — When active, the code is requestedeach time the device is switched on. Deactivating the PINcode request may not be allowed by some SIM cards.● PIN code andPIN2 code — Change the PIN and PIN2 code.These codes can only include numbers. Avoid using accesscodes similar to the emergency numbers to preventaccidental dialling of the emergency number. If you forgetthe PIN or PIN2 code, contact your service provider. If youforget the lock code, contact a Nokia Care point or yourservice provider.● Lock code — The lock code is used to unlock the device.To avoid unauthorised use of your device, change the lockcode. The preset code is 12345. The new code can be 4-255characters long. Alphanumeric characters and bothuppercase and lowercase characters can be used. Thedevice notifies you if the lock code is not properlyformatted. Keep the new code secret and separate fromyour device.● Phone autolock period — To avoid unauthorised use,you can set a time-out after which the deviceautomatically locks. A locked device cannot be used untilthe correct lock code is entered. To turn off autolock, selectNone.● Lock if SIM card changed — Set the device to ask for thelock code when an unknown SIM card is inserted into yourdevice. The device maintains a list of SIM cards that arerecognised as the owner’s cards.● Remote phone locking — Enable or disable remote lock.● Closed user group — Specify a group of people to whomyou can call and who can call you (network service).● Confirm SIM services — Set the device to displayconfirmation messages when you are using a SIM cardservice (network service).© 2009 Nokia.
