You may receive access point settings in a message from aservice provider. Some or all access points may be preset foryour device by your service provider, and you may not be ableto change, create, edit, or remove them.When you open one of the access point groups ( , , ,), you can see the access point types:indicates a protected access pointindicates a packet data access pointindicates a wireless LAN (WLAN) access pointTip: You can create internet access points in a WLANwith the WLAN wizard.To create a new access point, select Access point. Thedevice asks to check for available connections. After thesearch, connections that are already available are shown andcan be shared by a new access point. If you skip this step, youare asked to select a connection method and to define thesettings needed.To edit the settings of an access point, open one of the accesspoint groups, and select an access point. Follow theinstructions from your service provider.● Connection name — Enter a name for the connection.● Data bearer — Select the data connection type.Depending on the data connection you select, only certainsetting fields are available. Fill in all fields marked with Mustbe defined or with a red *. Other fields can be left empty,unless your service provider has instructed otherwise.To use a data connection, your service provider must supportthis feature, and if necessary, activate it for your SIM card.Create access point groupsSelect Menu > Settings and Connectivity >Destinations.Some applications allow you to use access point groups fornetwork connections.To avoid selecting a single access point every time the devicemakes a network connection, you can create a group thatcontains various access points to connect to that network anddefine the order in which the access points are used.For example, you can add wireless LAN (WLAN) and packetdata access points to an internet access point group, and usethe group for browsing the web. If you give WLAN the highestpriority, the device connects to the internet through WLAN,if available, and through a packet data connection if not.To create a new access point group, select Options >Manage > New destination.To add access points to an access point group, select thegroup and Options > New access point. To copy an existingaccess point from another group, select the group, tap therelevant access point if it is not already highlighted, andselect Options > Organise > Copy to other dest..To change the priority of an access point within the group,select Options > Organise > Change priority.Packet data access pointsSelect Menu > Settings and Connectivity >Destinations > Access point, and follow the instructionson the screen.© 2009 Nokia.
