GPRS is a data bearer thatenables wireless access to datanetworks such as the Internet.Enhanced GPRS (EGPRS) is similar toGPRS but enables faster connections.For more information on availability ofEGPRS and data transfer speed,contact your network operator.The applications that may use EGPRSare MMS, video streaming, Push totalk, browsing sessions, email, remoteSyncML, Java applicationdownloading, and the PC dial-up.When you have selected GPRS as adata bearer, the phone uses EGPRSinstead of GPRS if this is available inthe network. You cannot selectbetween EGPRS and GPRS, but forsome applications you may be able toselect GPRS or GSM data (circuitswitched data, CSD).Packet data settingsYou can connect the phone usingBluetooth wireless technology,infrared, or USB data cable connectionto a compatible PC and use the phoneas a modem to enable EGPRS forpacket data connectivity from the PC.To define the settings for packet dataconnections from your PC, selectMenu > Settings > Connectivity >Packet data > Packet data settings >Active access point, activate the accesspoint you want to use, and select Editactive access point. Select Alias foraccess point, enter a name to changethe access point settings, and selectOK. Select Packet data access point,enter the access point name (APN) toestablish a connection to an packetdata network, and select OK.You can also set the packet datadial-up service settings (access pointname) on your PC using the NokiaModem Options software. See “PCSuite”, p. 76. If you have set thesettings both on your PC and on yourphone, the PC settings are used.
