The loudspeaker allows you tospeak and listen to the phone from a short distance without having to hold thephone to your ear, for example, having it on a table nearby. The loudspeaker can beused during a call, with sound and video applications, and when viewing multimediamessages. Sound and video applications use the loudspeaker by default. Using theloudspeaker makes it easier to use other applications while in a call.ACTIVATING THE LOUDSPEAKERTo change to using the loudspeaker during an already activecall, select Options→ Activate loudsp. A tone is played, isshown in the navigation bar, and the volume indicator changes.Note: The loudspeaker cannot be activated when you have connected aheadset to the phone. Do not hold the phone near to your ear when theloudspeaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud.The loudspeaker needs to be activated separately each time for phone calls, but thesound applications, such as Recorder, use the loudspeaker by default.TURNING OFF THE LOUDSPEAKER• When you have an active call, select Options→ Activate handset.Headset modeTo adjust the volume level when a headset is connected to your phone,press or or use the headset’s keys, if available.• KEYGUARDUse the keyguard (keypad lock) to help prevent accidental key presses.In standby mode, press and then .
