Chapter 7 - Internet 7-11World Wide WebTo connect to the World Wide Web, you need:• Your SIM card activated for data service• An account with an Internet service provider.To open the World Wide Web (WWW) application:1 Go to the Internet application main view.2 Select WWW and press Select.To exit the WWW application, press Hang up inthe WWW main view (the Hotlist). This will endthe data call and close the WWW application.WWW settingsTo see the WWW settings, press the Settingscommand button in the WWW main view. Tochange the setting, select it and press Change.Internet access — Contains your current Internetsettings. Although the Proxy settings may be leftblank, an Internet access point must be definedbefore you can make an Internet connection(see ”Internet settings” on page 7-3). When theInternet access view is closed, the current Inter-net access point (IAP) becomes the default IAPfor subsequent connections.Internet access — To change the Internetaccess point, highlight Internet access andpress Change. Choose from among the IAPsyou have defined in the Internet settings (see”Internet settings” on page 7-3) by highlight-ing it and pressing OK, then Close.This willset your default WWW Internet access point.Proxy settings allow you to use a proxy (abrief description of the proxy is included in”Internet glossary” on page 7-2). The HTTPproxy server name and HTTP port must bedefined before using the proxy.HTTP proxy – The hostname of the HTTPproxy server.Proxy port – The port number that theproxy server uses.No proxy for – You may define domains forwhich the proxy must not be used. Domainnames are delimited by commas (for exam-ple, nokia.com, cal.edu). You may specifythe domains as accurately as you wish.Autodisconnect time — 2 min, 3 min (default), 5min, Maximum. Determines the length of time thecommunicator will be connected to the WWW inan idle state before automatically disconnecting.Show e-mail address — Yes (default) / No. Showe-mail address includes your e-mail addresswith the Retrieve request when retrieving aWWW page. The e-mail address is defined in theE-mail application settings.Autoload images — Yes / No (default). If theautoload images option is Yes, inline (JPG or GIF)images on the WWW page are downloadedautomatically. When the setting is No, WWWpages are downloaded without the images andshown much faster.Clear cache and history — Yes (default) / No.Most recently downloaded WWW pages are keptin the communicator’s temporary memory,called the cache. If Clear cache and history is setto Yes, the WWW cache, history list and cookiefile (see below) are automatically emptied afteryou exit the WWW application. If Clear cacheand history is set to No, the cache stores asmuch information as possible. When you restartthe WWW application, the most recently storedinformation can be retrieved from the cache andhistory list without making a new data call.URL entry box visible – Yes (default) / No. WhenYes is chosen, the URL entry box is shown in theWWW browser main view, and the URL is read
