See also ‘Essential indicators in standbymode’, p. 21. A data connection is required to connect to an access point. There are threedifferent kinds of access points that you can define:• MMS access point to, for example, send and receive multimedia messages,• access point for the Web application, to view WML or XHTML pages, and• Internet access point (IAP) to, for example, send and receive e-mail.Check with your service provider what kind of an access point is needed for the service youwish to access. For availability and subscription to data call, high speed data call and GPRSconnection services, contact your network operator or service provider.Minimum settings needed to make a data callTo insert a set of very basic GSM data call settings, go to Tools→ Settings→Connection→ Access points and select Options→ New access point. Fill in the following:Data bearer: Data call, Dial-up number: obtained from service provider, Data call type:Analogue, and Maximum data speed: Automatic.Note: Sending data in HSCSD mode may drain the game deck’s battery faster thannormal voice or data calls, as the game deck may send data more frequently to thenetwork.Minimum settings needed to make a GPRS connectionYou need to subscribe to the GPRS service. For availability and subscription to GPRS,contact your network operator or service provider. GPRS connections and transmission maybe subject to separate fees. See also ‘GPRS counter’, p. 31.
