Using a wireless LAN(WLAN) access point device or a WLAN router, youcan create a home network and connect compatibleUPnP devices that support WLAN to the network,such as your device, a compatible PC, a compatibleprinter, and a compatible sound system or TV, or asound system or TV equipped with a compatiblewireless multimedia receiver.To use the WLAN function of your device in a homenetwork, you must have a working WLAN homeconnection setup and have other UPnP enabledhome devices to connect to the same homenetwork. See "Wireless LAN," p. 68.The home network uses the security settings of theWLAN connection. Use the home network feature ina WLAN infrastructure network with a WLAN accesspoint device and encryption enabled.You can share media files saved in Gallery with othercompatible UPnP devices using the home network.To manage your home network settings, press ,and select Tools > Connectivity > Homemedia. You can also use the home network to view,play, copy, or print compatible media files fromGallery. See "View and share media files," p. 49.Your device is connected to the home network onlyif you accept a connection request from anothercompatible device, or in Gallery, select the option toview, play, print, or copy media files on your deviceor search for other devices in the Home networkfolder.Important security informationWhen you configure your WLAN home network,enable an encryption method on your access pointdevice, then on the other devices you intend toconnect to your home network. Refer to thedocumentation of the devices. Keep any passcodessecret and in a safe place separate from the devices.You can view or change the settings of the WLANinternet access point in your device. See "Accesspoints," p. 148.If you use the ad hoc operating mode to create ahome network with a compatible device, enableone of the encryption methods in WLAN securitymode when you configure the internet accesspoint. See "Connection settings," p. 147. This stepreduces the risk of an unwanted party joining thead hoc network.Your device notifies you if another device attemptsto connect to it and the home network.
