A CCESS GATEWAYSystem Administration 209Deleting an ARP Table Entry {ARP Delete}ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) is used to dynamically bind a high level IP address to alow level physical hardware (MAC) address. ARP is limited to a single physical network thatsupports hardware broadcasting. This procedure shows you how to delete an ARP table entry.1. From the Web Management Interface, click on System, then ARP Delete. The DeleteARP Table Entries screen appears:2. Enter the IP address of the entry you want to delete.3. Click on the Delete button to delete this entry, or click on the Reset button if you want toreset the “IP Address” value to its blank state.Enabling the Bridge Mode Option {Bridge Mode}Bridge Mode allows complete and unconditional access to devices on the subscriber side of theAccess Gateway. When the Bridge Mode option is enabled, the Access Gateway is effectivelytransparent to the network in which it is located, allowing clusters of switches (especiallyCisco Systems switch clusters) to be managed using the STP (Spanning Tree Protocol), or anyother algorithm/protocol. The Access Gateway forwards any and all packets (except thoseaddressed to the Access Gateway network interface). The packets are unmodified and can beforwarded in both directions. This is a very useful feature when troubleshooting your entirenetwork as it allows administrators to effectively “remove” the Access Gateway from thenetwork without physically disconnecting the unit. You can still manage the Access Gateway when Bridge Mode is enabled, but you have noother functionality. If you enable the Bridge Mode option and then plug the Access Gatewayinto a network, all you need to do is assign it routable IP addresses. You can then set up allother features and disable the Bridge Mode option whenever you want to start using the AccessGateway in that network.
