If it should malfunc-tion or break down, grounding provides a path of leastresistance for electric current to reduce the risk ofelectric shock. The power cord has a plug with agrounding pin.Plug the powercord into anappropriateoutlet that isproperly installedand grounded inaccordance withall local codesand ordinances.The outlet mustbe on a nominal120-volt circuit.A temporaryadapter may beused to con-nect the powercord to a 2-polereceptacle asshown at theright if a prop-erly groundedoutlet is notavailable.The lug or wire extending from the adapter mustbe connected with a metal screw to a permanentground such as a properly grounded outlet box cover.Some 2-pole receptacle outlet box covers are notgrounded. Before using an adapter, contact a quali-fied electrician to determine whether the outletbox cover is grounded before using an adapter.The temporary adapter should be used only untila properly grounded outlet can be installed by aqualified electrician.HOW TO ADJUST THE POSITIONS OF THEPEDALSEach pedal can be adjusted to several positions. Toadjust each pedal, simply pull the pedal handle out-ward, move the pedal to the desired position, andthen release the pedal handle into an adjustment holebeneath the pedal. Make sure to adjust both pedalsto the same position.DANGER: Improper connection ofthe power cord increases the risk of electricshock. Do not modify the plug; if it will not fitan outlet, have a proper outlet installed by aqualified electrician.
