16FEATURES OF THE CONSOLEThe advanced console offers an array of featuresdesigned to make your workouts more effective andenjoyable.When you use the manual mode of the console, youcan change the resistance of the pedals with the touchof a button.While you exercise, the console will display continu-ous exercise feedback. You can even measure yourheart rate using the handgrip heart rate monitor or theincluded chest heart rate monitor.The console also offers a selection of onboardworkouts. Each workout automatically changes theresistance of the pedals as it guides you through aneffective workout. You can even set a customizedworkout goal with the set-a-goal workout.The console also features an iFit mode that enablesthe console to communicate with your wireless networkthrough an optional iFit module. With the iFit mode,you can download personalized workouts, create yourown workouts, track your workout results, race againstother iFit users, and access many other features. To use the sound system, seepage 22.Note: If there is a sheet of plastic on the display,remove the plastic.HOW TO TURN ON THE POWERIMPORTANT: If the elliptical has been exposed tocold temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem-perature before you turn on the power. If you donot do this, you may damage the console displaysor other electrical components.Plug in the power cord (seeHOW TO PLUG IN THEPOWER CORD on page13). Next, locate thepower switch on the framenear the power cord. Pressthe power switch to thereset position.The display will then turn on and the console will beready for use.Note: When you turn on the power for the rsttime, the incline of the ramp may calibrate auto-matically. The ramp will move upward and downwardas it calibrates. When the ramp stops moving, the rampis calibrated.IMPORTANT: If the incline of the ramp does notcalibrate automatically, see HOW TO CALIBRATETHE RAMP on page 24 and manually calibratethe ramp.IMPORTANT: The console features a display demomode, designed to be used if the elliptical is dis-played in a store.
