Chapter 3 Setting up the Nortel VPN Router 1010, 1050, and 1100 65Nortel VPN Router Configuration — Basic FeaturesDeployment procedureThe following sequence of events illustrates the deployment procedure.• Factory configured Nortel VPN Router 1010, 1050, and 1100 boxes areshipped directly to the end customer. A provisioning worksheet is either sentor faxed from the network operations center separately from the device.• The end user unpacks and connects the Nortel VPN Router to the networkusing the readme included with the Nortel VPN Routerdevice. The NortelVPN Router is deployed between the internet access device (cable or DSLmodem) and the local network (Ethernet segment).• The end user restarts the PC to request a new IP address from the branchoffice DHCP server (not all operating systems require rebooting).• The end user opens the Web browser and types http://192.168.1.2, then clickson Manage Switch and enters admin and setup as the username andpassword.• The BOQS displays one window to collect the IP and VPN configurationparameters. The end user enters the required parameters using the worksheetprepared by the NOC.• The BOQS configures a tunnel from the branch office Nortel VPN Router to aNortel VPN Router located at the central office and a management connection(responder control tunnel) to enable further configuration from the NOC. TheNOC can take over configuring the box once the connection is established andadditional configuration is required.
