Unless you ordered additional memory, Nortel ships theVPN Router 1740 with one 128 MB DIMM installed. You can upgrade memoryin the gateway by installing a second 128 MB DIMM.This section provides instructions about adding a second DIMM to the VPNRouter 1740 or, if necessary, replacing an existing DIMM.To install or replace a DIMM:1 Shut down the VPN Router 1740 using the Web GUI or the CLI, and thenunplug it as described in “Shutting down the system to add or replacehardware” on page 66.2 Remove the front bezel from the chassis, and then remove the chassis from theequipment rack (see “Removing the front bezel and top cover” on page 67).3 Remove the top cover from the chassis (see “Removing the front bezel andtop cover” on page 67).Caution: Use of a memory module not purchased from Nortel can voidyour warranty or your service contract.Caution: Install the same type of DIMM that is already installed in yourgateway.
