2 AFP-3030 Operations Manual — P/N DOC-01-033:C 05/12/2018Installation PrecautionsAdherence to the following will aid in problem-free installation with long-term reliability:WARNING - Several different sources of power can be con-nected to the fire alarm control panel. Disconnect all sources ofpower before servicing. Control unit and associated equipment maybe damaged by removing and/or inserting cards, modules, or inter-connecting cables while the unit is energized. Do not attempt toinstall, service, or operate this unit until manuals are read andunderstood.Verify that wire sizes are adequate for all initiating and indicatingdevice loops. Most devices cannot tolerate more than a 10% volt-age drop from the specified device voltage.Like all solid state electronic devices, this system may operateerratically or can be damaged when subjected to lightning inducedtransients. Although no system is completely immune from lightningtransients and interference, proper grounding will reduce suscepti-bility. Overhead or outside aerial wiring is not recommended, due toan increased susceptibility to nearby lightning strikes. Consult withthe Technical Services Department if any problems are anticipatedor encountered.Disconnect AC power and batteries prior to removing or insertingcircuit boards. Failure to do so can damage circuits.Remove all electronic assemblies prior to any drilling, filing, reaming, or punching of the enclosure. When possible, make allcable entries from the sides or rear. Before making modifications, verify that they will not interfere with battery, transformer, or printedcircuit board location.Do not tighten screw terminals. Over-tightening may damagethreads, resulting in reduced terminal contact pressure and diffi-culty with screw terminal removal. This system contains static-sensitive components. Alwaysground yourself with a proper wrist strap before handling any cir-cuits so that static charges are removed from the body. Use staticsuppressive packaging to protect electronic assemblies removedfrom the unit.Follow the instructions in the installation, operating, and pro-gramming manuals. These instructions must be followed to avoiddamage to the control panel and associated equipment. FACPoperation and reliability depend upon proper installation. The equipment must be correctly programmed and installed tosuit the specific application. Please ensure correct operationalparameters are set prior to commissioning. If further details on pro-gramming options are required, please consult the programmingmanual or contact our helpful technical support personnel.Documentation FeedbackYour feedback helps us keep our documentation up-to-date and accurate.
