Operation Description2.1 Electrophotographic Process Mechanism(1) Electrophotographic ProcessFollowing describes the outline of an electrophotographic process incorporated into printers.1. ChargingApplying a voltage to a charging (CH) roller charges the surface of an opticalphotoconductive (OPC) drum.2. ExposureThe surface of the drum having a charge is exposed to light an LED head emits undereach image signal. Segments of the surface have a reduced charge according to theintensities of the light they receive, a static latent image being created on the surfacebased on electrical potentials on the surface3. DevelopmentCharged toner is attracted to the latent image of the drum by static electricity andmakes the image visible on the surface of the drum.4. TransferPaper is brought into contact with the drum, and applied with a charge by a transferroller from the back, the toner image being transferred to the paper.5. OPC Drum CleaningA drum cleaning blade removes residual toner from the drum after the transfer.6. Transfer Belt CleaningA belt cleaning blade removes residual toner from a transfer belt.7. FusingHeat and pressure fuses the toner image to the paper.(2) ChargingVoltage is applied to a CH roller contacting the surface of an OPC drum, depositing a chargeover the surface.---- --CH RollerPowerSupplyUnitOPC Drum
