TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES7.1 Precautions prior to repair(1) Confirm the basic check items indicated in the User's Manual.(2) Through hearing from the user, obtain information, as far in detail as possible, on the situ-ation concerning the fault.(3) Inspect the printer in a condition close to the actual situation in which the fault occurred.7.2 Items to be checked prior to taking action on abnormal images(1) Check to see if the printer is operated in an adequate environment.(2) Check to see if the consumables (toner, drum cartridges) are replaced properly.(3) Check to see if the right paper is used. See the paper specifications.(4) Check to see if the drum cartridges are installed properly.7.3 Precautions when taking action on abnormal images(1) Do not bring your hand or any object in contact with the surface of the OPC drum.(2) Do not expose the OPC drum to direct sun.(3) Do not touch the fuser unit, which can be very hot.(4) Do not expose the image drums to light for over five minutes at the room temperature.7.4 Preparations for troubleshooting(1) Display of LCDThe breakdown situation of this machine is display in LCD.Do an appropriate trouble repair based on information displayed in LCD.7.5 Troubleshooting methodIf a trouble occurs in the printer, search for it by the following procedure:Problem generatedProblem is displayedin LCD.Abnormal image(or problems that arenot displayed in theLCD)Repair in detail usingtroubleshooting flow(see 7.5.2).Repair in detail usingtroubleshooting flow(see 7.5.3).Repair using the “LCDmessage list” (see 7.5.1).
