Enter the self-diagnostic mode (level 1) and, until MOTOR & CLUTCH TESTappears on the upper display, press the MENU up-arrow ( ) or MENU down-arrow( ) button (the MENU up-arrow ( ) button displays the next test option and theMENU down-arrow ( ) button displays the preceding test option). Then press theENTER button.2. Press the MENU up-arrow ( ) or MENU down-arrow ( ) button until an optionshown in table 5-4 for the unit to test appears on the lower display (the MENU up-arrow ( ) button displays the next option and the MENU down-arrow ( ) buttondisplays the preceding option).MOTOR & CLUTCH TESTID MOTOR3. Press the ENTER button. The motor and clutch test starts, the unit’s the name andcurrent status starting to blink, and the unit being driven for ten seconds (refer tofigure 5-2).Note! The state in step 2 is restored after the unit is driven so. The unit is drivenagain by pressing an appropriate button.• By usual printing driving, the clutch solenoid repeatedly is turned on andoff (its motor is driven together with the solenoid when the solenoid cannotbe driven solely for its mechanical structure). * Image drum up-and-downmovement continues until the CANCEL button is pressed.• The clutch solenoid is kept driven by holding down the ENTER button (twoseconds) for a motor to be accepted.4. Press the CANCEL button. The state in step 2 is restored.5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 when necessary.6.
