C9300/C9500 Maintenance • 164CHANGING THE TONER CARTRIDGEWhen the toner is running low, *** TONER LOW is displayed in thecontrol panel (*** is the color name). If printing continues withoutreplacing the toner cartridge, CHANGE *** TONER is displayed andprinting is cancelled.Depending on the operating environment, print may become faintbefore this message is displayed. If this happens, remove the tonercartridge and check whether it is empty; if so, the toner cartridgeneeds to be replaced.Cartridge life is approximately 15,000 letter-size pages at 5% printdensity. The first toner cartridge installed in a new image drum needsto be replaced after less than this amount because the tonercartridge has to fill a new image drum.1. Switch off the printer and open the top cover.2. Check the color label of the toner cartridge to be changed.WARNING!Take extreme care when handling toner.• Toner can be harmful if inhaled, swallowed or if it getsin the eyes.• Toner can also stain hands and clothing.
