OkiLAN 7120e Network Userís Guide50NOVELL NETWAREOverviewThe OkiLAN 7120e supports the Novell NetWare environment.It is necessary to have NetWare Administrator or Supervisor rights tochange the configuration. This guide is for NetWare administrators. Itshould be read in conjunction with the relevant Novell NetWare manual.The latest Novell service packs and Novell client versions should beinstalled.Supported Versions and ModesIn NDS, the printer can be configured to work in either print server modeor remote printer mode.Remote Printer ModeRemote Printer Mode requires a connection to be made to a workstationrunning Pserver. Print jobs are received from the file server via theNetWare print server. The network interface card emulates theworkstation on which the NetWare Rprinter operates. Remote Printer Modeadds additional traffic to the network and is slower than Print Server Modebut does not require any additional licences.Print Server Mode (Recommended)In Print Server Mode, the file server is logged in and the printer queue isrepeatedly polled to determine whether a print job exists. The NetWareprint server or workstation where Pserver runs is emulated. This enableshigh speed printing without applying a load to the network. Print ServerMode requires a single user NetWare licence.Printing the Network Interface Card Configuration SheetThe printerís configuration page reports information required for NetWareconfiguration. To print this page, with the printer is switched on, depressthe NICís push-button for three seconds and then release.The information you require is the printerís Ethernet address. The first sixcharacters of the Ethernet address are the same for all OkiLAN 7120enetwork cards. The last six characters are unique to each card.
