TCP/IPIV - 23Section IV - TCP/IPOKI OkiLAN 6010e User’s GuideRemote LPD PrintingThe way print jobs are queued to a Remote LPD systemvaries among the vendors that support TCP/IP. UNIXsystems that are BSD-based typically use the lpr pro-gram to submit print jobs. Other UNIX systems mayuse the lp program to submit print jobs. PC-based TCP/IP packages often provide a command line lpr programand a utility to redirect the output of an LPT port to aRemote LPD system.Consult your system administrator or software vendorfor assistance troubleshooting LPD.Note: The Remote LPD implementation of the OkiLAN6010e does not support any UNIX LPD input or outputfilters or the direct printing of banner pages. It is pos-sible to configure some UNIX systems so that bannerpages and input and output filters will be generated atthe UNIX host and then sent to the OkiLAN 6010e.(Refer to Appendix B, Application Considerations.)FTP PrintingFTP is a command line program used to transfer filesbetween computers. FTP provides commands foropening a connection to another computer, specifyingthe data type of any transfers, and sending and receivingfiles. The OkiLAN 6010e supports a subset of the FTPcommand set. This subset allows the FTP user to open aconnection to the OkiLAN 6010e, specify a file transferdata type and send print files to a Remote Print QueueName on the OkiLAN 6010e.
