Make sure that theinstrument is completely dry before use or storage.6.2 Lamp replacement• Do not leave foreign matter (such as gauze or a plastic bag)inside this instrument. Fire or instrument damage can result.• Do not install any lamps other than those designated byOlympus. Otherwise, this instrument and ancillary equipmentmay be damaged, resulting in malfunction or fire.• Do not replace the lamp immediately after the video systemis turned OFF. The lamp will be hot, which may result inburns.• Do not touch the lens or reflecting mirror. Contamination canresult in cracks and instrument damage.• Do not handle the lamp with bare hands. Always use glovesor clean gauze.• If the lamp is soiled, wipe it with a piece of clean gauze orlint-free cloth moistened with 70% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol,and dry it thoroughly before use. If the lamp is lit while dirty, itwill cause transmission loss, and in some cases, shorten thelamp’s life or cause equipment damage.• When inserting the lamp into the lamp socket, apply forcegently and directly above the lamp. Using excessive force toinsert the lamp could damage it.• Make sure the lamp is not oblique before inserting it. If thelamp is inserted at an angle, the light intensity may bereduced.• Close the lamp access cover securely and lock it beforeoperation. This instrument will not operate unless the cover issecurely closed and locked.• After lamp replacement, move the lamp selection lever to theA or B position. If the lamp selection lever is not set securelyin one position, the lamp will not light.VISY218
