If dirt or rubbish is stickingon the mirror, remove it with a commercially availableair blower.Eyepiece CareWhen the CRT screen and the mirror become dusty,open the eyepiece to clean it.The mirror is provided with a special coating. Usea blower or similar tool to remove dust from themirror. Using tissue paper will cause dust particles toscrape against and damage the mirror surface. Use acommercially available hair-planted cloth (such as a lenscleaner) to remove more stubborn dirt.Opening the eyepiecePress the lock button.Closing the eyepiecePress the eyepiece until the lock button clicks intoplace to close the eyepiece.When outdoors, never carry or set up the camera withthe eyepiece facing up to prevent sunlight, which coulddamage the internal parts of the eyepiece.Phenomenon Inherent to CCDCamerasSmears• Smears may appear when shooting an object withvery high brightness.• This phenomenon may appear more frequently asthe electronic shutter speed increases.Charging the internalbatteryThe internal battery preserves the date and timesettings. The appearance of in the viewfinder orLCD monitor indicates that the internal battery isexhausted.Follow the steps below to recharge the battery.Set the date and time when the battery has been fullycharged.1 Connect the camera to an externalpower source.• Leave the POWER switch on the camera off.2 Leave the camera for about 4 hours.• This is the time it takes to fully charge theinternal battery.• Check the time code and setting menus aftercompleting battery charging.Replace the internal battery if appears aftercharging.
