Along with its simplified voicemail functionality (private and generalmailboxes for incoming callers to leave messages), it also provides the ability for DBS 576phone users to record phone conversations and store them - like messages - in their mailboxes.FeaturesThese are some of the features of the VM Unit:• supports up to 248 private mailboxes, plus another 6 mailboxes for general use• standard and customized greetings for the company and for individual phone users• one-touch access key programming• 2-way call recording• Outside Notification capability (automatically dialing a preprogrammed outside numberafter a message is received)• message copying to other mailboxes• Automated Attendant capability• two separate Alternate Services that can serve as an automatic “answering machine”during nights, weekends, and holidays, or as a backup for the AttendantConsiderations• VM Unit components consist of one VSSC card installed in Free Slot 11 (“FS11”) ofa CAB-96, or FS5 in a CAB-40. In addition, in a CAB-96, either one VPU card canbe installed in FS10, or two VPUs installed in FS9 and FS10 (FS12 must be leftvacant). In a CAB-40, only one VPU card can be used, and is installed in FS4.• Not more than one VM Unit can be installed in a single cabinet.• A multiple-cabinet phone system can support up to 4 VM Units (minimum 4-cabinetconfiguration).* Each VM Unit will be distinct and separate from the other VM Units, withseparate directories, separate pilot numbers, etc.* A phone user cannot simultaneously access more than one VM Unit at a time.• A single cabinet can hold only one Built-In option - either the VM Unit or the ACD(Automatic Call Distributor) Unit, but not both. Therefore, at least one expansioncabinet is required if the phone system uses both Built-In ACD and Built-In VM.
